Spring is coming

Natives are blooming. I never tire of the spring show.
Flame azelias that survived the logging are getting lots of sun and the bloom shows it.

A little gem.  A yellow moccasin flower that is still alive and well.  I am astounded that it is doing so well since it does not really like the sun at all.

Landen eating

Landen eating

3 Months Later

It has been three months since we made a post on this site. Matt has been busy with school, grad school, and soccer. Ashlee has been BUSY with work and LANDEN! So the winter months has passed us by without any posts. Not much has changed with the land though. We are building a wall behind the house, planning to build a shed, planning to build a chicken coop, and getting the garden ready for spring. I will post some pictures of the family and the land.

Had to add this one

The only snow of the winter. Not much of one.

Our New Pad!

So, Matt and I are finally starting to feel settled in to the house. There are still some things out of place and some boxes to unpack, but otherwise we are feeling very much at home here in the new house. We are enjoying the peace and quiet of the mountain and having Landen here with us to ring in the new year. Loving it!

The view from the porch (always a good photo opt)

New sod is down as well as some grass seed and hay. Trying to cover up some of the mud, it's really starting to look nice.

early december house progress

It is amazing how many details need to be completed before a house gets a certificate of occupancy.
steps and a reasonably flat grade

kitchen sink has been installed.

exterior grade work underway

trenching in the waterline from the well to the house.  Of course they had to cut across the driveway that had just been smoothed out and graveled.  Its all about sequencing.

november progress

unusually pleasant weather made it great for working outside.  These two guys are making a project list for the winter.

Barbara is revising the project list.
Here you can see a mound of dirt that needs to be smoothed out.  Hopefully this will happen November 30th

back door.  Plenty of landscaping yet to be done

trim is more or less done and the walls and trim have been painted with at least one coat
