Sub day

There were a lot of subs working on the house today.  Starting from the top, there were the roofers putting on shingles, electrictians roughing in the wiring, plumbers roughing in the plumbing, HVAC guys putting in the ductwork for the heating and air, window people putting in windows and exterior doors and I feel like I am leaving out somebody but maybe not.

You do not have to be crazy to do shingle work but it helps

stuff just everywhere

Ladders everywhere

DOORS!

windows seen from the porch deck

More doors and windows.  The will all be in by the end of the day

Fall color is happening.  Sourwoods starting the show and a few sassafras shrubby trees are showing as well

More progress!!!

Well, the grass is coming in nicely, it's been perfect, rainy weather for the newly seeded area and it's obviously filling in as hoped! They are making impressive progress on the house (at least in my opinion), every time I go out or get on the blog, there's more completed than the week before. Pretty exciting!!!! This is going to be an awesome place to live!!

Grass growing in the yard....thanks rain!

View from below in the yard, it looks so tall!

Another from driveway, but a little farther up

View from up top, the door to the kitchen is on the left and the door to the laundry room is on the right, and you can see the porch past that.

Another view from driveway (may have been repetitive with my photo uploads)

View from far below...on the driveway before it curves up and around

Ok, seriously posted 3 of these, but I'm NOT deleting it now, this is time-consuming work..

Finally, the slab

The gravel, all 90 tons of it, is covered with plastic and 700 feet of rebar.  It is over-engineered according to the man responsible for its structure.

The hose on is in place for pumping the concrete from the truck to the slab

concrete truck, and pumper truck

One man spraying in the concrete

others are moving it around and leveling

we have been raking out the bumps and hills and carrying the rocks up to make paths.  This will be a garden site some day.  We put grass seed and hay over part of the lot to help stabilize things.  It rained over two inches, (thank-you Lee) and the dirt and seed stayed put.  Whew.
