The kids CHIP in to move mulch pile

The old man on the tractor.  Matt standing by the Kubota awaiting a load of mulch to drive to the top

The new house will go here.  This is the view

another view of the view.  I think that snaggly tree will go.  As will the trash on the ground.

We are putting the house on this logging road.

Picking out the details

No pics here but we did spend the afternoon at Schumacher picking out the details of the house we are building.   Outside color, outside trim, gable end color, interior carpet, wall color, trim color, cabinets, countertops, vinyl, tile, cabinet tops, and I am probably leaving out a few other things, but the decisions we made in 2 or 3 hours usually takes us about 5 years to accomplish.  Stressful but fun.

After three days of chipping

The poor abused chipper. Most of the piles are gone.  The super pile in the corner is putting up a good fight.

Looking down from a potential house site

Lots of mulch piles.

Burning some of the small stuff that was too much trouble to put into the chipper

Another view from near the super pile in the corner looking down the bank.  I think the house will go pretty much where the fire pit is.

clearing a house site

Our friendly grounds crewman, Justin, brought his trackhoe

and a good sized chipper to help get rid of the brush and piles of trees and branches

This is where the house is going.

Looks like we are going to build a house on this hunk of land.  Of course we decided to put it in the trashiest area we could find.  First step is to take out the trash.  Last weekend the boys pitched in and spent a day helping cut up wood.  These piles are big and it is going to take some heavy equipment, which is on the way.

so now that some dramatic changes are about to occur we will post more progress shots.  (hopefully there will be progress to report)
